I suppose I’m more just writing down my thoughts right now more than anything else.
Had an interesting conversation tonight with a lecturer and a first year student. The first year student told us about how he came from a disadvantaged background and how determined he was to rise above it. He courage and determination was genuine. There’s no way it could have been faked.
The lecturer and I saw each other as being like reflections in a mirror. We have what it takes but we’re missing the determination and drive we need. This first year student, while being a little naive made us both feel a bit guilty. Our priveleged backgrounds had made us complacent.
Where on earth does one find such determination and resolve these days?

I suppose if you want to know who I am, I'm a science (biology, to be more specific) student at the University of Technology, Sydney. If I were to describe myself in one word, it would be: Whimsical.
